Attendance Information 2021 2022
SCHOOL WILL START AT 8.45AM AND FINISH AT 3.10PM FOR ALL YEAR GROUPS
Absence should be reported on the absence telephone line – 01277 810218 Option 1 – before 9.30am. A clear reason for the absence should be given ie. Sickness, high temperature, chickenpox. It is not acceptable to say ‘unwell’ or ‘not coming in today’.
If a message is not left office staff will call home to find out where the child is and why they are absent. If we are unable to contact you by telephone we may make a home visit.
If the school believe a child is absent due to holiday when it has been reported as illness the parents will be contacted and the absence will be marked as unauthorised holiday with code 'G'
Medical Appointments – the school ask that wherever possible appointments are made outside of school time. Letters or appointments slips should be shown to the school office in advance.
If your child arrives after 9.30am with no valid reason given they will be marked as ‘U’ which means an unauthorised absence for that session.
Leave of Absence forms should be obtained from the office in advance and returned completed with an accompanying letter stating the reason for the absence. If the request is not approved it will be marked as unauthorised holiday with code 'G' , this may result in the Local Authority issuing a Penalty Notice where there have been 10 or more sessions of unauthorised absence recorded. A session is a morning or afternoon.
From September 2018 a Penalty Notice may be issued if there are 6 or more sessions missed due to holiday taken during the first two weeks of September.
Application for Leave of Absence during term time
Following government legislation in September 2013, there is no entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time; however you may apply to the school for leave of absence if you believe there are exceptional circumstances.
Important: A letter must be attached to the request, outlining the 'exceptional circumstances' for which a leave of absence is being applied for in advance of the holiday.
